I was eligible for an upgrade so I dumped my hated iPhone 6 for a Galaxy S7. My first foray into android after being an Apple loyalist. Any one else take this plunge? I feel like I’m escaping a cult.

Went from 4S to Galaxy S5. It’s been having its problems, but infinitely better than my old iPhone.

I have a G5 in pale pink; its device name is “Kirby”. How do you like yours? Mine’s great, but the crappiest Snapchat camera ever.

I took the plunge earlier this year and traded my 5S for a S6 Edge. And then a month later the S7 came out. I haven’t had any major problems and have loved the phone. Also, camera resolution is a big step up.

See, an S7 would be groovy, but that’s $900 off-contract, and there’s no way in hell I’m paying that.

Nice. I like the iPhones because they have a lot of stuff geared towards younger people (better social media updates, all the emojis, good Snapchat camera, etc.), but the Androids are a lot better for me. My sister has an S7, while my dad and my Android friend have the Edge. Good phones; I got a G5 because different and because PINK!

I’ve had mobile phones since my 1992 Motorola brick. So many flip phones until smart phones came around. Bought my first iPhone, an iPhone 3 many years ago and we’ve now had 5 iPhones in the family until my wife got a Droid Maxx. I still have my iPhone 4. She wants an iPhone 6s or SE now and I might just take her phone until we have another upgrade. If I do it will be my first Android for myself.

It’s never really been a cult, they’ve just worked... til now. I have a 6 and a Note 4 and later this month I’ll be able to add an S7 and maybe a 6S+. Sure, the options in androids are nice, but something that I don’t need to constantly close all apps or it lags seems a bit better designed. Dunno, I remain neutral by owning both lol.

I miss Windows Phone.
Fuck Apple.

Did you download a launcher?

It’s an issue that’s only on Snapchat, and only on the G5; it’s widely reported. During the day, the pictures are very grainy and are on par with a keyboard phone from 2009. At night, though, weird lines appear on the pictures from the main camera, and the light may not even work. So, if a light is on above, the picture will still be dark. The picture flickers on the selfie camera. Here’s a video showing the issue.

I was happy with an old S6 before the thing decided to throw a fit 5 months into its life. Coupled with the damning article about Samsung...

Sort of. I just got rid of my M8 HTC for the Galaxy S7. Never thought I’d stray from HTC, but I’m very impressed with the Samsung so far. I’m not a big fan of the keyboard though. Unless I’m missing the setting (highly probable), it doesn’t automatically capitalize ‘I’ or add an apostrophe when needed.

The only thing that’s keeping me in iPhone is my parents’ love for iMessage and being able to Facetime my grandparents in Hong Kong easily.
If those two weren’t priorities, in a matchup compared to ANY Android, the iPhone’s got no chance right now. C

It’s your “homescreen” or “desktop.” When you press home, you see your stock launcher.

I went from an LG Optimus G to an iPhone 6 almost two years ago. My contract ends in November and it can't come soon enough. At this point my 4 year old LG out performs this stupid cultphone. Probably gonna go S7 Edge or LG G5.

Number of them out there for free. Lets you customize your home screens and setup of the app drawer. Mine is called nova I think. So I have my apps setup much more logically then the stock setup with everything together

Until some Android manufacturer produces a phone comparable to the 5S or 6SE in size and performance, I’m not going anywhere. We spent decades making phones smaller and I’m not about to haul around a huge phablet just so I can see my screen more easily. My rule is that a phone must be able to be grasped in one hand comfortably, and all I need it to do is call, message, and reach the Internet/maps so it's not like my old 5S feels outclassed or anything.

I swapped to android after realizing my iPhone 3g was a POS years ago and I never looked back. I have had several Samsung galaxies since. I have the Nexus 6 now. The only downside is my phone is pretty big but I have large hands and it still fits in my pocket.

The size of phones is what drove me to get a 6s at the beginning of the year. Even it’s bigger than I’d like, I was pissed when the 6SE came out.
That said, while the phone works fine, I really hate the operating system and cannot wait to go back to Android.
